What are good easy fit Donor seats for a Defender?
« on: April 20, 2006, 21:34:32 »
Im thinking of taking out the old shabby seats in my defender, and putting in some newer ones! Anyone done it? I dont want to alter the driving position height much as im quite tall and dont want to be touching he roof!!! Any Suggestions??  PICS would be good!!

Also, no anyone who sells new genuine or superb fitting mats and trim sets???

Got some Rover seats in mine. Comfy, but add a little bit too much height, (Not too high to get in though and I`m fairly tall 6ft) fortunately it also has a smaller steering wheel.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

I have seen a few fitted with SaaB seats, and if you can find them, some are heated.

Personally I would have the original Defender seats refurbished.

Really if you want to fit car seats you need to rebuild the seat box. You need to lower the front of the seat box.
Defender seats have a flat seat base.Car seats are raised at the front which causes difficulties with clearance between the seat and steering wheel.

Your choice though !!!!

I've fitted Citreon BX seats in my 90 and also had them in the hybrid.  VERY comfortable. I'm 6ft and long in the leg.  No seatbox mods needed and standard steering wheel used.  The seats cost me £20 the pair. :D
