Well I've made a small start.....
« on: April 22, 2006, 16:25:27 »
:?

Waiting for my car-restorer-type-person to weld the thing up for MOT so have started to do some small things to Elmo which are within my very limited capabilities.

Front end - got rid of 'orrible bull bar and spots, new wiper arms and rubbers (springs and rubbers shot so replaced the lot), added wind deflectors to front windows.

This coming week hopefully should get my HD bumper, new bull bar and Wipac spots fitted, that will be just about it for the front apart from a gurt big mud-club splat on the bonnet ;)

Meanwhile, round the (ahem) "rear end"

Took off tow ball and replaced with a new Dixon-Bate 3.5 ton model with pin hitch, pigtail bracket and rear step.
Replaced load space blind which was missing.
Number plate removed - have found a black ABS surround from Powerfuluk.com which, although designed for a Freelander, will "finish" the plate nicely, and as I currently have the inner door lining off pending the arrival of a chequer plate replacement then it will be easy to fit all of it back on using yellow number plate bolts.
Retrieved hose for wash wipe system from door frame - all working just waiting for a new nozzle to be delivered and fitted.
12S socket and electrics (genuine LR part) ordered and on way - will fit on opposite side of tow bar to existing 12N.
New rear wiper and blade awaiting fitting - same problem as fronts, springs and rubbers shot.
New spare wheel cover added - the old one looked like baby's plastic pants and I couldn't bear it

Still to come:

Rear light guards
Brake upgrade all round with stainless hoses (one front hose is actually gone, the rest badly corroded)
Light bar (maybe- can't decide- help!)
Welding and MOT (doh!)
New alloys and BFG AT tyres
Suspension upgrade with Bilstein shocks and steering damper, same height but heavier duty
Steering guard and front/rear diff guards
Odds and sods inside - extra 12V sockets, fire extinguisher etc.

Will post piccies right through if any interest.

Aye, they look a bit isolated there, I've fitted them to help the "in-laws" get access to the rear of the vehicle. If I mount them higher (which is very easy) then they become redundant, as they would be nearly as high as the bumper itself.

This will be one of those "suck it and see" things methinks :)
