just as I'm getting things sorted on the 90 (and the credit card is maxed out) I find I've got a leaky rear shock (Old Man Emu).. Can it be rebuilt and if so is it worth it?

Assuming it can't be rebuilt what are my choices?  The handling with the 2" lift is excellent at the moment (well compared to the disco anyway!).  Is there really much difference between OME and say Procomp?

Paddocks do the following
Pro comp - £26
de carbon - £44.50
OME - £55

Are there any decent deals out there at the moment?

After my front OME 2"+ shocks wore out, I replaced them with the Procomp ES9000 +2" ones.  Been very happy with them.  Seem to get better front axle articulation for some reason - dont know why.

I'm a big fan of procomps - use them on the racer and have beaten lots of people who spend more on one corner of shocks than I do on a whole set.

See www.FriesianRacing.co.uk for the abuse I put them through!

if you give them that sort of abuse you've probably bust one or tow and am hoping know the cheapest place to get em... so are paddock prices good or is there somewhere better?

I've seen em listed on ebay but always a bit cautious about buying stuff from there like that as no real come back if things go wrong.

I got mine direct from procomp, but that was because they seem to be the cheapest for standard length, at £35 each including VAT and delivery, +2" would be same price. Initial reaction to them is that I'm quite impressed, they survived the heavy landings with only a little damage to the lower threads on the front, the forward rear pair picked up a few dents.

Have now fitted the second front pair which seems to have stiffened the front end, along with new spring seats and strenghteners for the lower shock  mounts.

Need to fit some front mudflaps to try to protect the rear shocks.

Still there's nearly two weeks until the Hillrally. Or should that be Help, there's only a week and a half until the Hillrally.

Regards

Wolfie

Can you bolt ProComps straight onto a Td5 Disco ? - I've been looking on the ProComp site (http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk), and there's nothing to say that you can't.........and nothing to say that you can !

Because if it is less than 2 years old... take it back to your OME retailer and get another one !

I nee dto pay more attention don't i?

the suspention, erm dunno - it came with the car (so far I've replaced jsut about everything else!)  It looks pretty new but that could be down to a good scrub I suppose - no dents anywhere that are noticeable.  The car, a C reg 90.

Does that mean when the shock breaks it causes an accident that you die in?  that would save them having to replace it :D
It's not a real car unless it's over 30 years old!
Classic cars are the ones who's owners wave to each other. I just bought a pretend car! F plate 90!

Have a chat to the guys at Explorer (I buy them direct too!) they are very helpful and incredibly efficient.

I had never asked them whether the guarantee applied for competition, I had always assumed that that would be taking the ****!

They are however tough to break, I have some very battered well used ones as my spares now, but they still work well!

It does say it in the conditions that are listed when doing the online ordering. Have just ordered a spare set (well 1/2 set as M has 2 on each corner) just in case.

Just need a service crew now
