The sadness <mine> continues...

With the Imprezza you get 1 bhp for each £93 spent on purchase price
With the R R SC you get 1 bhp for £173 spent on purchase price

What I think is quite sad is that this seems to have turned into a 'my dad is bigger than yours' discussion.

I'll stick to the Series 3 I think...  68 bhp, 4 throbbing cylinders and a happy look on my face

well iam of the thinking, your car is what it is, you make yourself look daft by putting a different badge on it.
of course its you lots own choice if you do that, but you will go down in my estimation!

even if its the best replica in the world, its still not like owning the real thing.

Its a car based forum, it will always happen:)

What is interesting is that looking over the figures they are all over the place, even the stock figures for mine vary worringly, one site give engine output as 130bhp, nother 155, Audi as 170 and someplace is was the RS2 engine being quoted at 450. Same with the weights on all three cars and I think neil just found a glaring error on Rover's own information in that vein.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Oh, and there's me thinking it was a 'my badge is better than your badge' discussion

Hands up those who are actually taking this thread seriously. All these facts and figures just don't mean a thing, tiz all nonsense as 5th Gear once proved by racing a RR Sport against a horse. Lets move the thread to Jokes & Funnies, well I think it's funny !      It reminds me of the last <impossible> mud-club challenge...the bog hill challenge, this time it's the squeely wheel challange. It'll never happen. *sigh*

Lot of cars its limited at 120/130. mThere is an unoffical 'gentlemans agreement' that that should be the max speed of normal cars produced by most manufacturers.

Its normally trivial to defeat. On non Monotronic a4/b4 chassis Audis, its actually a switch on the back of the dash! Probobly applies to VW and SEAT cars of that age too.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

The "Gentlemens Agreement" you talk of is usually 155 with the Exec motors, but can be over-riden via the ECU.

And Evilgoat, if you ever fancy selling the Audi lety me know :D it sounds fantastic.

VAGcom will do it for you on most VAG cars :)

I've always found it set to 120 though, almost all Audis are restricted at that point IIRC, will have to have a word with the lot that look after mine.

As for the car. There are two Similarly built non-existant V8 90Tqs about. 4.2Lt engine as used in the newer S-Line cars. one roadworthy the other keeps breaking bits as the drivetrain wasnt uprated. I think the owner finally gave up after warping the rear diff moounts etc.

FYI - Engine is limited *electronically* to 130mph at 3500rpm (from memory - so could be wrong) - so there's lots left after the limiter. Same engine in RR Sport is limited to 140mph.

Tyres are the main concern for such heavy cars at such high speeds.

Plus the fact I wouldn't like to be the person doing 130 in a Range Rover to be totally honest - 90 In a Citroen Van scared me.

80mph in Rabbit feels like Mach 9, well untill you get overtaken by a saxo.

I keep thinking I'm cruising at 70 on the Mway and realising I'm doing 45!

My Dads van, 90 doesn't feel like 90, but the Engine screams like it's pushing the sound barrier... Gotta love the un turbocharged 1.9! Still, it's a Proven off roader.

I had a 90 van and a 90 Lara Croft on loan, one after the other. At 90 - you could not hear ANYTHING in the van....well anything other than the engine! However - after laughing at the bolt on aircon and CD player - if you turned it up REALLY loud in the Lara Croft - you could almost make out the tune ;-)

The sound proofing does make a big difference!

Travelling at 125 - 130 mph in my modified SD1 V8 would give you the same feeling you would have at 50 mph in a Cavalier. It doesn't feel *that* fast.

I could stop from 150 mph quicker than the Cavalier from 60 mph.
