In this month's issue I notice Rob McCabe (who writes the car reviews and who is also a regular contributor in LRO) seems to have got the mag back on track with a brilliant article on a tuned Range Rover Td6 by JE Engineering and then an article on a japanese 4x4 Rodeo thingy.

Caravanners just love their 4x4s.

David Bellamy seems to be on more comfortable ground writing about nature reserves.

Maybe all those letters did a bit of good.

Incidenality, last year Rob McCabe managed to get a Land Rover of some sort into 4 issues on the trot. Good on yer, Rob.

Just been away to Great Yarmouth last weekend, and I would say nine out of every ten van's were being pulled by a Landrover. :)  :)

Too right they are better at towing!
We spent Easter weekend on small site in Wales 80% of the towcars were 4x4s-variety of makes B*******s to bellamy!!

went to wales on the Easter bash, with some really nice mud club members.
first time i have towed a caravan with a 4x4
what caravan?
the discovery towed brilliant pulled away from a junction with ease, maintained legal speeds with power in reserve fuel consumption was hardly efected it was a total joy to tow with a discovery. so much so that we are away again this weekend.

now compare that to towing with a Peugeot 306 diesel
i was towing at almost 100% (recomended is 85%) of kirb weight
the car was fully loaded as i dare not put any weight in the van
fuel consumption dropped from 40 + to high 20's
it rocked from side to side everytime something overtook me i only reached 60mph going down hill usually on a motorway it was 50 - 57mph so i was stuck with a load of artics, playing cat and mouse
when i arrived at our site my bones ached and i was totaly stressed out from  concentrating during the journey

I have a disco and also a Rover 620 and I would say the disco does mean that sometimes you forget the van is behind you but in some cases I would have to say the rover is a better tow car  :shock:

Yes I REALLY did say that. The disco is SO slow up hills where as the rover just flies up them at 60mph and passes any slow lorry in its wake.

It is a tricky desition everytime I tow the 'van o which car to use. This weekend it will be the disco as itis an auto and I am facing the m25 at about 4pm and having to go a quarter of the way around it :(

Yeah good to see. Would have liked to have seen more of the letters published in the mag mind. At least they said there was a big response.
