are the prop lenghts the same on a 200tdi to a 300tdi?, and are they interchangeable?

my 300 rear prop at diff enbd does not have a uj, has a flexible coupling type assembly, where as the 200 has a uj, why?

if they are interchangeable would a 200 with rear uj be better for a suspension setup with lower shock mounts etc i.e more articulation, or not?

sorry for lots of q's, just got me thinking earlyier

cheers thumbs

Colin, go the 3 link route, mine drives fine...just more body roll...i have just uprated my shocks to adjustable ones so..hard on road soft off seems to be helping. But with big mt's you are never going to have a sports car!LOL

Yes, but you also need a 4 bolt diff flange kit to replace the 3 bolt one that's on there now.

Because the coupling is supposed to take out some of the vibrations caused by the second U/J.

It could be, although I tried it on mine and just got vibration so the original is back on for now until I decide to have another play with it. I have a 3" lift on mine with the rubber coupling and, although they start to crack quicker than normal, it has been fine up to now.

At standard ride height the rear prop is almost straight, ie the UJ angles are negligeable, so the ruber dougnnut was introduced to reduce NVH.  It will crack if driven at higher angles (lifted) and it's worth fitting quality parts.  the downside is that it works as a CV joint so on a lifted car you are better off with 2 UJs, you will need the flange from a front axle and obviously a 200 series prop.
