An MC page on myspace - what do you think?
« on: May 07, 2006, 17:31:56 »
Wasnt sure if this should go in websights or general chat but here goes

Why dont we start a mud club page on myspace?
It wouldnt cost anything and may get the club a little more publicity which is never a bad thing.
Also members could sign up for there own myspace and join up as part of the MC personal network.
This could then be used for say regonal areas with organising meetings, days out etc?

Just a thought but would be intrested to hear what others have to say and any comments from admin/mods will also be welcome
 :D

for those of you not familiar with myspace
have a look at www.myspace.com

If I'm totally honest, I'm not sure what the benefit would be...

Contact other people - can do that here
Set up your own profile, gallery, details - can do that here
Arrange meet ups and events - can do that here

I'm not totally familiar with myspace... mostly because I've never had a need for it, so I might be dismissing it unfairly mind...

Tim
I know exactly what you mean as had the same thoughts myself when posting.
My main resoning though was to get a page on myspace as can then be used to promote the club more ...and whats more the promotional use would be free
Plus we can have the added benefit of an open place to show responsible off roading etc.

Trouble is Myspace is juist another 'fad' site like all the others that start off big, implode through useage and then the site and importantly, the rights to its contents, get sold to another large existing site.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Don't see the point personally ... the MC seems to be doing pretty well as it is. :)

I had a quick look round on there and the search didn't work, I searched for "Land Rover" & "4x4" and just got a blank screen with a nice advert at the top! The forum is cr@p, and it's mostly looks like a U.S. based version of a gloryfied (sp) Freinds Reunited.

I think there are better ways to advertise, if we really need or want to, and I can't see anything else on there that we don't already have a better version of on here and I can't see the point in having a spinter section of Mud Club away from this site.

If there's a need for any new sections on the site then I'm sure that we've only got to ask!
