Well just goes to prove the point, i've been driving around in the discos for some time now.
And I might as well have been in a corsa for the amount of waves ive got back!
Now im back in a 110 the very same day im getting beeps, waves and gestures of recognition from complete strangers.
All I can say is just how lonely an experiance driving a disco is even a modded one!
But now im one of the "brethren of the road"

amazing (Im told) the difference it makes if u put a snorkle and/or a steering guard on the disco.
I must admit to getting waves from discos that are tricked up but not really many from those that arent
the only defender owners that dont seem to wave are the farmer types, or those who use them for business!

with the level of mods on the v8 i somethimes get 90/110 drivers nearly crashing!!
I nearly always get a wave and i suspect those that dont arent really enthusiasts.Youd be amazed what a lairy colour scheme and big tyres accomplishes.

I often get waved at in the series, last year tehe 90/110 clan started to wave too, so that was a plesant suprise. I always try to wave back, depends how quick i can react (usually totally amazed that they've waved!).

Ihave found that when driving the series i get more waves than in the defender or the disco but not noticed any differance from disco & defender. I think the people in defenders are land rover nuts or work cars. People in discos can be anyone from all walks of life and just give you the look of who is that fool waving at.

i disagree about the comment regarding those who own defenders are either nuts or work cars (i think it was Dave who said it :) )
some of our customers are owners of defenders and when i had the discovery i would ask them about their car and one or two simply said its higher up than most 4x4's and they can nosey down on others
i think ive had one guy who was genuinely interested in mine and he owned a rangie classic
but drove a rascal to carry his dogs (good sense!)

No its wave and be waved at for me. Shmbo thinks its funny that i wave at passing green ovals. I find its the newer rr and some p38 drivers that dont wave. I even wave in my truck so if your out and about somewhere and see a white m.a.n tga truck normally with a red flatbed trailer and a forklift attached to the back Its only me waving at you :D
