Digressing somewhat;
I've heard from a (usually reliable) source that a Defender Td5 has moved over 500 tons of wagons.

The track was in on of those concrete yards & the Td5 was on road-tyres. I find it a bit much, but he's usually right.
I have challenged him to find a picture, either on-line or from one of his sources

well didn't the discovery tow 180 (ish) tons of wagons along a track for the grand unveiling when it was first released (1989 i think). I'm sure i saw that in a Landy mag not so long ago.

I know 500 is quite a bit more than 180 but isn't the TD5 quite a bit stronger than the 200tdi the disco had at that point?

It's the rolling resistance that's the problem, after all a Landie will move 40tons of artic on a tarmac road.
