Problems starting Turtle!!!      AGAIN......

Problem started yesterday, at Beaulieu wounldn't start for the journey home, was given a tug and she started. Had a new battery and Alternator fitted could it be the starter motor? When key is turned it just clicks.

Had to get a taxi to work this morning £6.60 just to go 4 miles what a rip off... got the compay Astra for the next couple of days    while I get Turtle sorted ready for Billing.

Sounds like the solenoid. Later cars are part of the starter motor and come with a reconditioned unit.

Before you spend any money, check if your battery cables are corroded... Mine had corroded in the clamp and simply cleaning off the cable and re-fitting the clamp has sorted it out.

I'd already bought the new starter motor as I assumed the worst immediately  :(

Cheers

Yes good point from ben,
Try running a jump lead from the negative to the engine block somewhere, might be a bad engine earth strap

Turtle is back up and running, had the starter re-conn, and re-fitted then had a problem with the battery, a knackered cell, now has a new battery and all is well again (for now - touch wood etc etc)

if you had a new battery then didnt a warranty swap be sufficient or did you have to buy a new one?

SYL - 40 squid to re-build the starter, a bit cheaper than buying a new one.

My battery had a fautly cell I did get it exchanged but I decide to get a new yellow top battery for the motor, and kept the exchange battery for the caravan.
