Just got back from attending the local agricultural show as we had a stand there for our machinery :D  what a mud pit it turned into   I,ve paid good money to drive at places where there was less mud than here
only in england do we enjoy a freezing ,windy, wet and muddy day out with all the family in whats supposed to be the summer
solihulls finest were doing their best but even some of them were defeated
Most annoying was the bloke in the new D3 just cruising round on road tyres past those with tyres more suited for conditions akin to the first day of the somme

Nothing moved in or out of the show on friday (set up day) or today unless it had a tractor and chain on the front, amazing was how many people, myself included , who have no idea where the towing eye for their van is or where it screws in to the front chassis

The Overlord military show looks like it was fun today, and there's two more days to go yet!
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Where on earth do people get this myth that just because its summer it therefore must be nice and sunny and dry????

Its not exactly the first time this has happened now is it and no it is not somthing to complain about, its just something you have to live with. Theres a reason this country is 'green' all year round and thats because we get rain all year round.

which show was it?

pembrokeshire show sometimes suffers even though its on an aerodrome

lancashire show had to be stopped one day early i think last year or year before due to the amount of mess there.

personally i dont know why shows or events such as these dont go onto aerodromes or disused airfields as all the main avenues can be along the runways and those which arent can be covered with them wooden tracks for people to walk on.

or do what the royal and royal welsh does, buy land then convert it to their needs.

I helped set up the Basingstoke canal boat rally over last weekend and I was helping out on Wednesday /  thursday and I had my disco with grizzly claws on as I had a feeling it maybe muddy.

I was right.

I was the only vehicle there that could get on or off site by the end of the thursday. I had great fun towing in 2 3/4 ton box trailers accross mud. I had no option but to go for the foot down and pray you keep going option  It is quiet scary when you go round a slight corner and the trailer keeps going round once you have straightended up. I towed in everyones caravans for them and towed afew people off who thought a peugot partner van was as good as my disco off road!   I tried to keep to the same ruts to dry them out and it worked as I didntthink caravan owners would be too happy if i went full pelt accross a muddy field with their vans! My plan of the ruts worked until a pissy little 1 ton dumper churned all my ruts up to a muddy mess again

I wasnt there to help dismantle it all as I was in my caravan but would have been good fun again I think.

Did anyone go to the boat festival / rally?
