Well, please may i dip into the font of knowledge, that is Mud Club,
Problem, can only get 24 volt starter for toyota engine.
so i have two 12 volt batterys through a second solenoid to give 24 volts to starter, but every method i have tried to get the second battery to charge fails, with blown fuses, or melting wires.
Even tried a split charging box fom carvan towing kit.
So ideas, please, there must be a simple way of doing this.

I have just had this exact this problem on my disco.
Im running 24volt starter and alternator, but the first battery that i was drawing 12 volts off kept going flat over a couple of days.
In the end i fitted a second, 12v alternator charging the first battery, and this has been fine for about a month now.
So what you need is a 24volt alternator to charge the two batterys.
There probably are other ways around it, but this is working for me.

youve got a bit of a problem there.
a 12v car but a 24v engine.
two choices to be right, convert the car the 24v (bit of an arse) or convert the engine to 12v.
is the alternator 24v?
if the alternator is 12v then someone somewhere will do a 12v starter (even if its not ment for your car, maybe under plant or machinery)
have you tried LSUK or other dealers that deal with plant spares as well as commercials.
is the starter NIPPON or DENSO, or something like that?
PM me the number on the exsisting starter and i see what i can do.
i also know of a company in england that custom build jap starters and alternators to whatever spec you want, but there dear last one i had done was £350.

You can buy a 12v to 24v charger unit, runs through the alternator and switches when the engine is running, the one I have puts about a 8amp charge through to the twin (24v) batteries I have for auxiliary use, completely independant from the 12v vehicle one

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Have a chat with your local agricultual dealers as most combines use 24v starting with 12v running, charging both batts from normall alternator.

Okay, I just drew this out, and you'd need to relay (Winch rated solenoids ??) a number of connections in order to get this to work
You basically have to cut one of the batteries earths and both batteries lives (Otherwise you push 24v back on the alt, then make a connection across from positive to negative one batt to the other.... you then need to revert all of this once the car starts. God knows what this would do to the engine management or radio and that, it also relies on the solenoids being "Break before make".
Try Milner offroad, they do lots of Jap stuff.
