300tdi with Autobox into a defender

A little info before I get to my question.
I have installed on a new galvanized chassis a 300TDI from a 1998 defender 110 and an autobox and t-box from a 1994 discovery. I took the fuel injector pump from the discovery and installed it on the defender 300TDI. This way I do not have the ECU type injection pump. The disco pump has the kick-down brackets on it just as it came out of the disco.

Ok this is the problem.
When I go to connect the kick-down cable to the injection pump (both autobox and injection pump are from the same disco)the end of the cable is to long. It is about 2” past its attachment point and the threaded part that is held by the rear bracket is not even all the way thru the bracket to even get the nut on. So there is no adjustment that could be done.

Would the cable be broke on the box end? I did not take the box out of the disco it had already been removed when I got the disco. So could the cable been snagged and stretched when the box was removed. The rebuilt box was only in the disco for about 1000 miles. How hard is it to install a new kick-down cable or is there another way to adjust it?

sounds like cable has fallen off cam in box. Fiddly but easy fix, if you drop sump you can feed it back around cam. Cam is sprung loaded so gently pulldown and refeed cable. Warning; sump clamp bolts can strip threads in casing so be very gentle and tease them out.
