on the way to work last night
i passed a police speed trap on the other side of the road

i continued up the road at the legal speed limit
with the ocasional flash of my headlights and waving to the floor in a 'slow down there is a speed trap up the road' sort of motion

the only vehicle to acknowledge me was another land rover who
waved and gave me the thumbs up
Never underestimate the power of a sick mind !!!!

Indeed.... and it's absolute nonsense if you ask me.  The charge is something like "Interfering with a Police Officer in the course of his duties"

Now, considering they always maintain that they have the speed traps to check on speed and to make drivers stick to the speed limits, I would have thought that warning another motorist with the result of making them observe the limit was actually *helping* the Police in their duties.....

Unless of course, their duties are to collect revenue

OK so we can all be a little 'anti police' at times, but just remember that if your kid got knocked down by a speeder would you still wave at people to warn them of a speed camera???

I do tens of thousands of miles a year as my job, and I see all sorts of pratts, I hate gatsos, and think the mobile vans are pointless, but when a copper is stood there with a gun there is usually a good reason.gatsos just make people slow down till the white lines are in the mirror then they speed up again, same with the vans, but copper with 'hair drier' usually means there are a few more about, ready to catch the 'hahaha i can speed up again' brigade which in my book is how it should be!

and the penalty for alerting people to a speed trap is something like £1000 and is indeed 'hindering a police officer in the course of his duties'

I hardly ever see a copper with a speed gun anywhere sensible. You don't often see them outside of a school, cinema, near a playground or anywhere where you would normally expect a child to suddenly appear in the road... oh no.. they lurk on roads away from population areas for the most... like the A508 mk to northampton road... waiting to dig their nails into the flesh that is our wallets once again... and then they preach on about how " if a child ran out... "... its all B.S... our police force is for the most part ineffective and full of power hungry megalomaniacs with delusions of grandure... stick them in a uniform and the swine all think the're god... with one or two exceptions... and you dont dare to try and reason with them...
OOPS... I must have had a bad day.. sorry

I really do not think it matters where you are there are always police that seem to be useless or in a useless place and not where they should be or doing something they should be.

For example:  In the country in which Miami, Florida is located there have been over 2,000 ATV’s stolen in the last 6 months. (2 of which from my family) The police do nothing about it. We showed them where one group lives, their ring leader, etc. those people are still stealing quads. They can not waist the man power, or the expense. However they went out and bought new quads for some of their branches and went out to our main riding spot (You name it you can ride it there. Take a look   www.thehumponline.com ) and arrested people for trespassing. Mind you people have ridden this location for more than 30 years.

I'm not anti-police at all.  Most of the coppers I know are almost as frustrated by the state of affairs as the rest of us.  I have a problem with the people who seem to be in charge of their deployment.

I share a lot of discograham's views about these things...  I don't believe that doing 80 mph on a dual carriageway is especially dangerous, or any more likely to cause an accident...  lack of driver attention and a lack of respect for the speed you are travelling and your surrounding are far more relevant.   Slow the vehicles down where they are in close proximity to people.. and make the people more responsible for their own actions.....  when was the last time you heard of a pedestrian being charged for due care & attention ?

Thankfully, I have not lost any relative to a car, and I hope that remains the case....  but I have seen the mess first hand of a few RTAs, all of which were caused by a lack of care by one party or another.

Just to clear my take on the police up a little...
There is no escaping it.. we need the police
They do have to clear a lot of mess up on the roads..  :(  although the fire brigade and ambulance crews are the real stars...
My biggest gripe is the waste of resources. You call the police out 'cos youve been burgled or you see a crime in progress, or you see a drunk driving, or an assault, or tip them off to a criminals activities.. what do you get.. a visit a few days later...
If some immigrant says you called him an immigrant... or, God forbid,(please note the sarcasm) ..
(something that ive come back and managed to edit in the end.. :!: )
... well, half the police force is on your back.. but you can't air those views.. oh no.. some do gooder will soon complain.. despite the fact that most of us...  or so I believe .. feel that way..
Its all down to priorities.. the powers that be seem to think this is the way to go forward... Well, here's some news for them. The're wrong. If you want to catch drink drivers, pull people outside a pub car park. Damn their civil rights in this case...
And as for the violent little scrotes about.. and all the petty vagabonds.. bring back the stocks.. Put them in, in nothing but underpants..and leave them there for a few days.. no toilet breaks.. they do it in their pants. After that public humiliation they are sure to be good girls and boys...
And make prisons somewhere people dont want to go... remove the tellys, pool tables, gym equipment and make the little f*****s work.. if they dont ..chuck 'em in a cell and hose 'em down with cold water every few hours.... want me to go on .. cos I havent started yet....
If the police see criminals being punished, then maybe they ( the police )will get their enthusiasm back...

DiscoGraham, re your last post
I don't have a problem with people having opinions. I do have a problem with people who use words that are offensive and derogatory, in what is a forum that can be viewed by anyone.
I appreciate that you are using them in the context of an example, but there are those in the Media and in the anti 4x4 fraternity who could seize upon it and label Mud Club members as racist.
Can I suggest that you edit your post?

You obviously have a problem with folks opinions, or you would not have used it in your opening line..
I see no racism, just reality, ask me how I know.
The media could care less for what is written here, they have far more racism to print themselves, much more interesting to the average brainwashed Brit.

I find you tag name offensive, the connotations it must conjure for those hard of spelling must be disturbing.

Anyways, let`s laugh  ..We should do it more often in this facist, controlling, nannying little peice of the planet that we all call the UK.

A franco german dictatorship hell bent on destroying Great Britain through political means as they cant do it any other way.... add to that the fact that they hate us with a passion and have allies everywhere here now and you will see that they may well succeed....
Unless we act now to save our culture and heritage then all we have gained in the last 2000 years will be washed away by a tide of immigration and european rhetoric...
