Spotted outside the unit this evening.

West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service have been splashing out on a new motor for the Station Officers to cruise about in.
It's a week old & replaces a '03'(?) plated Frontera ,and runs alongside a Zafira (might be the sporty Turbo version??)

Paul, the Officer who was in it this evening, was quite impressed with it. In particular as it has 'presence' which come in handy when your'e trying to 'make progress' as the Police say.
He also said that when they attend RTAs, sometimes the Police will borrow it (or the Frontera) to remove the wreckage if necessary.

I'm going to try & 'blag' a drive out of curiosity

Paul said he's asked 'the bosses' for some proper training from LR (Ie; an 'Experience' session), as they will be using it to support the Air-Ambulance & may have to access difficult areas

Of course if he gets that course he would be better taking a second person along with him as a driver in case he's too busy to drive himself

Indeed, we passed that course when going to pick up my 110 (came from Sutton in Craven). Looked quite good from the road side.

Open 'Land Rovers Of The UK. 1' in my 'www', there's a selection of images from there in that album.

The bits by the A65 are the basic/familiarisation course, it extends back into the woods behind the Hotel

heard a story once that the brittish transport police in my area took delivery of their new (and first ever off-roader) nissan terrano and then decided to take it across a football pitch. naturally never looked at the ground conditions and promptly got it stuck. took several hours for it to be recovered, he he.     but on the up side for them they were all sent on a posh off road training day at our expense.
