According to the Tom Sheppard book 'The Land Rover Experience', the dimensions are;
 
Loadspace length; 79.2" (2010mm)
Interior Width; 65.75" (1670mm)
Width between wheel arches; 43.0" (1090m)
Tailgate aperture; 53.6" (1362mm)
Tailgate height; 19.0" (475mm, & presumably the bed-sides are the same height?)
Richard A Thackeray 
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'
