lol thats one way of looking at it

what annoys me is that i went to the toby carvery today in warrington as a "last supper" with colleagues, and we all ate more or less the same amount but they dont put weight on

then i realise its not the meals that does it, its the choccy bars/crisps/pepsi i consume in between.

poo getting depressed now!

I'm 6ft and was 9.5 stone from 17 till I hit 40. I could eat anything and my weight stayed the same. I went up to 12.5 in my early 40's. At 46 I broke my leg playing rounders, (not recomended diet procedure), went down to 9 stone and now back up to around 11 at 58. I sometimes wish I could put maybe another stone on, but hey! You don't see over weight thoroughbreds. :D

That's how I see some troubles.

I don't want to cause any arguments with any medical experts that may be on here who are knowledgable on this paticular subject, but one of my father's mates can't float.  He just can't, and its apparantly because his bones are surprisingly dense compared to his physical mass.  As a result, he weighs more than his natural boyancy will allow, resulting in him going under.  :lol:

I personally follow a simple guideline.  If you can do most things, feel comfortable about how you look and what you can do, then you shouldn't really worry about how heavy you are.  I'm 13-13.5 stone and 5ft11inch and I'm not chubby at all.

There's also another aspect you need to remember.  Muscle weighs far more than fat does.  A Bodybuilder of equal size to a fat person, will naturally weigh heavier if they were identical apart from the fat and muscle ratios.  (why do I feel as though someone's going to correct me on this?  :shock: )

both are tied since my work, although some physical is mainly desk-based, so first plan is to shift the weight but same time do more excersize then go from there.

The correct way to work out your Body Mass Index (BMI) is as follows:

BMI = weight (kg) / height(m) x height(m)

If the figure is between;

20-25 you are normal

25-29.5 you are carrying some excess weight

30 and above you and overweight and should slim down for health reasons.

NOTE: If you are extremely athletic and have a very high muscle mass, it will skew the measurements. Ask your trainer or someone at your gym to do a body fat measurement and advise you accordingly

mine is over 30 i know that for sure.

i went for the first time to the meetings today and met the guys already on it including the one who has lost 9 stone in 22 weeks

he looks nothing like his old self, but has some saggy bits round his midrift and back of his legs, but he says it doesnt bother him and unless you look for it you dont notice.

i begin the diet tomorrow since its a new day and not start halfway through today. (besides i had toast this morning)

weight divided by your height squared.

dont forget to do light weights to tone everything up as you go along, even simple things like carrying a can of baked beans in each hand helps  :wink:

Ok- mine (for example) is 60kg divided by (1.70 x 1.70) = 20.76

Hi,

Just remember their is no miracle cure for loosing weight  :wink: - You have to cut down on what you are eating and make the right choices  :cry: ( I know it sounds boring)   I would recommend Weight Watchers - you will get lots of support from the lecturer for much less than £60+ per week and you get to pick and choose what you want to eat!!! but in moderation. :roll:

Start making small changes now in your eating habits- every great journey begins with the first step...... DONT EAT THAT CHOCOLATE BAR  :evil:  :evil:
Keep us updated with you weight loss every week.....until you get to goal.

as ive said i begin tomorrow and im currently the wrong side of 19st.

thing is i take on board what you guys say bout the different diet regimes out there and tbh ive tried the main ones and didnt find either the person running it supportive nor attending it appealing (the groups around where i live are 90-95% female and the rest us boyos... some of you may find this fine but for me its a big deal to confront my weight but another to walk into a big room then everyoen turn around and stare.. not the best thing for confidence.

the group im in now are 6 including me and the counsellor, its like pub banter, have a laugh, but its not a competition, must say the bunch of lads im with are very encouraging and they complement each other...

the missus and her mum goes to WW and they compete...

I know how you feel mate. I topped 19st this year after quitting smoking 4 years gao. I feel alot better for that too.

I have just started a weight loss plan with my GP. Im on Reductil tabs. It is a food suppressant. I take one a day at 9 0'clock in the morning. (usually at work, when i have my breakfast). I have an apple for lunch, and a meal at 5-5:30pm when i get home. The tabs stop me needing so much. And they stop the urge to eat after my tea.

All i have done is taken the tabs, and stopped eating late, and i have lost 31lb in about 14 weeks. I feel alot better for it,(other than having to buy new clothes).

But seriously, I know how hard it is. Im 26 and have small kids.

The hardest thing for me now is, resisting the temptation to have a Kebab at 12pm when i get in from shooting twice a week. Instead i get my wife to promise me something if i get home quicker. (If you know what i mean). :)

If i can help at all. Just ask.

Perhaps we could start a Mud-Club  Fit-Club, and help each other on. :)

Take it as a great oppertunity to explore new foods... i never knew how much i loved dried cranberries (and other dried fruits) until i decided to change my diet to include more healthy eatting!

It makes a huge difference tho  :) i physically cant eat thinks like mcdonalds or bk any more as it makes me feel sick now; so i trot off for spud-u-like or a sandwich while my mates eat evil greasy burgers!  :twisted:

now i cant touch them and my son doesnt understand why i wont open either

after my first day on it, i did feel hungry (im told you will do for the first few days)

got headaches too

but i drank bout 6 pints of water, so frequent visits to the loo!

wife says the bloatedness has gone already?  :shock:

Being dehydrated is a massive cause for being bloated and (mainly for ladies) developing cellulite.

By simply upping your water intake the body can "flush out" certain fats cells that it would otherwise store.  :D

However u can have the naturally caffinee-free fruit teas that i adore  :D

While cooking my chilli for tea tonight, I was contemplating your £60 per week fee!  I do have a tendancy to ponder some strange things at times.  :lol:

Now initially, it does seem steep, but then I got to thinking - when you add up the weekly fee for the standard diet clubs and then the products they try to sell you each week, the £60 isn't that bad as it will drastically cut down on your shopping bill.  I still believe that healthy eating is the key along with exercise, but £60 is ok if you are committed to doing it 100%, and then learn a new way of life.

Now some of you may think that you don't spend £60 a week on "diet prods", but if you think about it, bet you aren't far off, including those in your actual weekley/monthly shop.

Something else to think about too - why do you think every weekly topic that your class teacher/leader/whatever you want to call them, is based on a product that they are trying to sell?  It is linked to dieting, as that is their industry, but it always come back to what they are selling.  You don't NEED what they are selling, you need healthy natural food.  Don't be sucked in. :wink:

thats what i intend doing, re-educate myself on eating.

i suppose i can still have what i have now (the chinese, the kitkat, the pepsi) but have it in such moderation (once a month for the meal) that when i DO have one it is such a treat.

lol no but i feel hungrier during mealtimes (the lady said its your brain telling you you are hungry)

but other than that slight hunger pangs, nothing a shot of water doesnt cure

i must admit its weird not eating but ive now got crunch bar thingies which you can have instead of a shake or soup so i intend having one tomorrow at 3pm.

but the hunger feelings do go away as your body adjusts to your new way of eating.
