Best James Bond theme?
« on: August 05, 2006, 15:49:01 »
Submit your nominations and I'll set up a poll with the shortlist.

I'm going to start the ball rolling with:
You Only Live Twice (Nancy Sinatra) - the one Robbie Williams nicked the riff for "Millennium" off
View to a Kill (Duran Duran)
All Time High (Rita Coolidge) - from Octopussy[/list]
And I'd like to nominate the Madonna rubbish as the worst yet.

I suppose for 'old times' sake, it's got to be one of the Shirley Bassey tracks

I remember (& liked) the one by Shirley Manson (the Garbage singer), but what film was it??

Absolute James Bond has had the poll as welll
    Richard A Thackeray
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.

Shirley Manson did The World Is Not Enough, I think.  I'm not going to look at your link in case it biases me :)

I'm going to go slightly off track here. The best has to be Live and Let die, but not the McCartney version, but the cover of it done by Guns N Roses.

    That's the one

I like Shirley, but digressing, the sexiest voice in music is Cerys Matthews (ex- Catatonia)

I'm listening to Stuart Maconie on Radio 2, & co-incidentally, at this very moment he's playing 'The Living Daylights' (by A-ha)

He's also called it a good song( ), but a terrible film, saying he prefered 'View To A Kill'

Probably, as he was the first to be associated
I think Dalton was better than the reviews he got
Number one (for SWMBO) was Pierce Brosnan, as he was suave enough, handsome, active & a good actor

I'd liked to have seen Colin Salmon(?) as Bond, or Hugh Jackman (but is he too closely linked to 'Wolverine' now??)
Vigor Mortensson (Aragorn in 'Lord Of The Rings') would work well as he's got the intensity

    Quote from: "suzota"

Yes, but most of them were memorable
Honor Blackman as P u ssy Galore
Diana Rigg in 'On Her Majestys Service' (more memorable as Emma Peel In 'The Avengers')
    Samantha Bond as Moneypenny
Halle Berry as Jinx in 'Die Another Day' :(biglove):

Got to agree, I think (& resurrected for GoldenEye), but how about the 'Q-Boat' (The World Is Not Enough)

"We have all the time in the world", Louis Armstrong. Think it was used in On Her Majestys Secret Service.

I still like the original Casino Royale which spoofed Bond in the 60's, long before Mike Myers with the Austin Powers series.
David Niven, Peter Sellers and Woody Allen as various James Bonds.

Propellerheads album Decksandrumsandrockandroll was very Bond-esque, with On her Majesty's Secret Service being superb. Shaken & Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project is an album full of bond remixes too.

Bob Holness of Blockbuster fame was the first person to play James Bond!

He played James Bond in the serialisation on Australian Radio and it was pulled after a couple of episodes because the people who made the films bought the rights to it and then went on to make the James Bond films.
