Wheel Bearing

Sorry this isn't Land Rover, or even 4x4 Related.

My mum bought a S**troen C3 Diesel 5dr in January last year. Now 6 months in it went for in for a service and they replaced a failed wheel bearing. Now all seemed well.

Flash forward to now, it went in for a routine service today and the same wheel bearing needs replacing again. I'm no mechanic, but surley having the same side wheel bearing go twice in 18 months is not a common problem? Either that or I'm just looking for another excuse to hate this car.

Cheers,
David.

Not impossible in these days of speedramps, potholes & roundabouts. I would however expect it more with older motors, badly driven and cheaper pattern parts.

A brand new motor with oem parts I would be a little worried with no obvious cause. (i always used to wreck L/H lower wisbones on my escort because of a nasty pothole/speedbump combination on the entrance to my street)

It's always been serviced by a Citroen main dealer, and tbh 90% of it's use is smooth A-Roads and the occasional back lane (although she works as Home Help so the mileage is high!). She doesn't drive too hard.

I was starting to wonder if there's a problem somewhere else that is causing this, as the car will be coming out of warrenty and I would like to help her cure it before she starts having to pay!

might be worth paying the 40quid for an mot as a primer for what might be close to needing work before the warranty ends. it may also pick up any other suspension/steering fault that could contribute to the bearing failures.
