overdrive or high ratio kit?

trying to weigh up the pro's and con's dont know which way to go.
anyone tried a high ratio conversion for the transfer box?
was it any good?

I would recommend you go for an overdrive.  It increases gearing by 25% approx, and means you can keep the standard gearing if the higher high ratio gearing is too high.

If you put the high ratio convertion on with the 2.25 diesel or petrol (as standard) then you won't be pulling out of junctions unless you have a 10 mile gap, and towing anything would be slower!  You will also be putting a lot of extra strain on engine and main gearbox.

Go for the overdrive, you can choose when to use it (unless the linkage breaks).

it's a 2.25 petrol but its not standard must be making 85/90 bhp with more to come.

I'd go for the overdrive too on that size engine. I looked at the Ashcroft transfer box, but as said before t would put too put strain on the engine and gear box and also make pulling away a nightmare.

stage 1 head, SU carb conversion,tubular manifold and large bore system,
rocky mountain dizzy and leads.

so far its not too bad,quite sprightly even!

I would still go for the overdrive (you have the option of high range or slightly higher range).

With 110BHP pulling away with the overdrive in is not as good as it could be. (also not recomended as something may go pop).
