Modifed Warning lamps ???
« on: August 15, 2006, 19:52:44 »
Had my replacement Discovery now for 3 weeks, its a 1996 ES model.  Was driving home yesterday and was a bit puzzled why I had never seen the ABS light or the airbag light come on.  I investigated today.

ABS lamp was missing and the SRS light had 2 layers of insulation tape over it.

Removed the tape and replaced the bulb and hey presto they both work now...all the time !

Connected our diagnostic up to the motor and cured the ABS fault no problem.

SRS is going to be a bit more complicated as not only did a previous owner modify the warning light he has chopped a wire, its a yellow wire comes up behind the instrument panel but the wire is too long to plug into anything so I assume it goes back down somewhere around the fuse compartment.  If anyone has had similar problems or knows where this mysterious yellow wire goes please let me know.

How many other people have had similar warning light modifications done then ??
