SU's settings, lots of poping on overun

well trucks pretty much done, but engine feels a bit slow, also exhaust smells very rich, and it pops and bangs on over run.

i havnt had the carbs balenced yet, and when it went for MOT the garage adjusted the mixture to how it should be, but it would barley drive, so riched it up and it drive 'ok'. when you pull the choke out it goes like a rocket.

any ideas guys.

ps, its running K&N's and a short sports exhauste.

thanks in advance.
mark.

Mine popped like crazy on over-run when the exhaust was leaking causing pressure problems.  I'm no expert but check your sports exhaust?

Try balancing them the manual way - stick a pipe in each intake, in exactly the same place, and the other end in your ear, and adjust until the sound's equal.  Sounds horribly inaccurate but I've found it's not too bad to do with practice.

Did the exhaust smell rich after you riched it up, or when the mixture was correct?

Did you get to the bottom of this??

Sounds like its leaking air on the manifold somewhere if its popping on the over-run.
This should present no significant problems
