you will need to test which wire is live when you switch to main beam, then connect to it...

hi lift man
the relay is wired up correctly and i know which wire is the high beam, the problem is that there is 12v on the wire all the time evan when the keys are out and the lights are off ? when you put main beam on the voltage drops to 0 . so the switch wire has no voltage to power the relay. the only way i can think of is to use a normaly closed relay instead of a normaly open . the problem with this is the relay will be draining power from the battery even when the engine is off the only time it won't be pulling power from the battery is when the lights are on !! and i don't know if these relays are designed to work with the coil of the relay being pulled in all the time while the lights are not on .
any idea's
any one

had the same problem on my jimny and i am an auto electrcian and found when it was wired covetional via relay it put on main beam warning lap on dimy all the time
the anser we found is as follows take the two wires from the coil contacts of the relay to the back off the headlamp bulb plug and conect to the cable that give 12v across them only when on high beam and the other two contacts on the relay ..take one to battery with 15 amp fuse the other to the new lamps
hope this helps if not i can pm you tel no

Glad you sorted it. Its a pig if you dont know about it. I had a wiring diagram for it specially for zooks. It'll turn up again when my website comes back.
