RearLight Cluster Help

  been staying at my parents now for whole 2 day when some little :@&*er has decided it would be fun to smash in the right hand side light cluster.

Main reason for my post is does anyone know what the part number would be for a offside light cluster on a 98 disco plz ? ive been done the local "stealer" and well i think choclate teapots would be the correct word.

another daft question i have is since ive found it smashed i have discovered there is another set of bulbs above the reversing lights that are well and truely burnt out and have never worked since i owned the car but wat are they for?

not the higher up indicators are they cos the lense is not the orange i would expect

I've got a pair of 'non-indicator' body clusters in the garage, can get one posted if it's any help? How soon do you need it... going to Malvern?

Going from memory, I think the compartment where the indicator would be is blanked off if they're not the indicator version (confused yet?!)

Are the lamps dual filament? I know the original one's I had were complete with dual filament lamps for the brake's which I modified slightly so that the 5W element was connected to the sidelight circuit.

Do you have 4 or 2 rear sidelights?

The upper lamp in the qrt panel is AMR5151  Ã‚£30.00 (retail)

The rear bumper lamp is AMR6510 £20.00 (retail)

The bumper reflector is AMR5101 39.30 (retail),

lol def confused cos ive tried all the lights and they all work as norm except these new ones ive just found have bulbs in em lol. and they have worked at sumpoint because the plastic above the bulb was melted good n proper lol na they dont look to be duel fillament either tried the bulb in reverse light socket and its blown so im presumin nearside is the same
also only the 2 sidelights on the bumper chris

lol damn it thanks but i already just ordered it and some lamp guards now  

plus that one is differant to mine anyways where that one has a orange lense for indicator mine is/was a red lense gona buy some new bulbs and try em maybe i have got 4 side lights all this time ??? lol who knows ??? one of the landrover mysterys

hey hey  :lol:  ive owned the car 3 years no and its passed 2 mot`s now worries but i do have 4 tail lights since the offending little git smashed the lights i just put a new bulb in the mystery socket and it come on with me lights :) lol all that time ive had blown bulbs and i wouldnt have known  :oops:

cant wait for me stuff to turn up now so i change the lot

p.s how do ya get to the cluster?  i seem to have a awfull lot of trim and dicky seats to work around lol sheesh and i just lent me haynes manual to a fella down the road  :roll:

Easiest way I've found is to remove the two torx bolts holding the seat brackets at the top - the whole seat drops down then out of the way giving slightly better access to the rear of the cluster.
The cluster itself is held on with two wing nuts, one top and one bottom which clamps a bracket between the light and the body.

The jump between 2 or 4 rear lights is not an mot requirement - as long as you have a minimum of 2 lights.

I've always thought the two small lights in the bumper did not give a true impression of the size of the car in the dark, with the four lights you get a better idea!

Chris, you bet me to the removal method, I think it's a TORX 30 (or 35)
I upgraded my Discovery to a 4-lamp set up within a couple of weeks of buying it.
As you imply it's far safer having the 4 tails, the flip side is that the indicator relay is expensive if you go for that set-up as well (AMR4873, at circa £27.00!)

Surely, it's got to be the most essential (safety) modification that anyone with a bumper only tail-light Discovery can make?

I've copied the set-up on my 110 as well.
However, I'm intending modifying it slightly by taking the (lower tail/fog) feeds from the opposite sides, so, if a fuse goes, I still have a tail-light on each side, instead of losing both
