not dodgy - MUCH!!
« on: August 21, 2006, 13:17:31 »
had a look at a FREELANDER on ebay, and asked a question, here is his answer... smells a little fishy!
Hello ,

Thank you for your interest regarding my LAND ROVER FREELANDER TD4 ES DIESEL + SATNAV + LEATHER.
This car has 80370 miles. This Land Rover is presented in beautiful bright electric blue metallic paintwork complimented with full leather interior.  This car is in IMMACULATE condition and has covered 80,400 miles and offers an amazing array of features including, AIR CONDITIONING, TOP HiFi, CD CHANGER, SUNROOF and SATELLITE NAVIGATION.

The full list of features includes :

Beautiful Metallic Blue Paintwork
Full Leather Interior
Common Rail TD4 Diesel Engine
4 Wheel Drive Transmission
5 Speed Manual Gearbox with Hill Descent Mode
Immaculate Alloy Wheels
GPS Navigation with Voice Guidance and Auto Re-route
Upgraded Harmon Kardon RDS Tuner Hi-Fi
6 CD Auto Changer
Remote Hi-Fi Controls on Steering Wheel
Air Conditioning
Electric Glass Tilt/Slide Sunroof
Heated Front Seats
Electric, Heated Wing Mirrors - which also fold in electrically too!
Electric Front Windows
Front and Side Airbags
Rear Wash Wipe
ABS
Power Steering
Rear Head Restraints
Remote Central Locking
Land Rover Alarm/Immobiliser
Map Reading Lights
Tow Bar
Roof Bars

This car has the smooth and powerful Common Rail 2.0 litre DIESEL engine which provides 109BHP of great acceleration combined with OUTSTANDING economy (over 35MPG which is unheard of for a 4x4).  The engine is so quiet and smooth that you will need to remind yourself that it’s a diesel every time you pull into the filling station.  The economy is understandable when you consider that it is revving at just 3,000RPM doing 85MPH in top gear…so it cruises effortlessly.  The 5 speed Manual gearbox is easy to operate and changing gear is effortless.

So please be honnest with me and tell me if you realy are interested.

My wife was recently promoted so we had to move in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We brought the car with us, wanting to register it here, but I couldn't because of the right hand drive. The car is bought from UK and is made for UK market. So that is why I preffer to sell it quick now and get rid of it while I still can, because time is running and I can't keep it like that, there is a deadline term when I must pay the import tax, so I can't afford to lose time and I prefer to make some money while I still can.
But that wont be a problem because will be shipped from here with DAS and it will take 7 working days to arrive to your address.

The shipping is free for you.The price of my car is £3850.

From the beginig you have to know that for the payment I request ONLY secure pay,I prefer the payment will be done through eBay. I have to let you know that I want the payment prior shipping since I will shipp it in the same day or next day the payment is complete. Also you have nothing to worry about because this deal will be done ONLY VIA SECURE WAY .The most important thing in all my activity here is that I am affiliated at eBay, I have a a purchase protection account for US$20000 and i assume you know what this means. In case we will close this deal, you are protected by eBay. How you are protected by eBay? Well ,in case you will not receive the car as i described to you, eBay will refund you with 100% from the whole amount which you paid to me. But this won't be the case. One conclusion, you are protected.
Let me know if you want to buy it, so we can close the deal asap with protection for your money. If you decide to go further let me know asap and i will contact eBay and they will handle the financial transaction for me.

Regards !

I think its a con, a friend of mine saw a similar advert for a RR, he asked some questions before he realised it was a con.
Before the second question was answered Ebay had removed the listing.

If you are interested in a Freelander PM your details as I have a lovely one for sale.

I sold a rangie to a chap there and he had to convert to left hand drive to qualify for the taxation system, (historic vehicle) as it was a 1974 model.
It still sounds a bit dodgy with all the waffle but some folks are like that and he may be desparate to sell.
I would walk away though as there are plenty over here with no hassles.

i know i have problems with writing some times but with something like selling a car you need to be a bit more 'with it'. now im sure he took some time over replying to you, to me it just seems like hes rushed it and not taken care over what hes trying to say... repeating himself hundreds of times as such.

too me that just doesnt give the right impression of someone wanting to sell their car in the correct manor..

I do believe in Holland they do require left hand drive, i found this out when a friend of mine who has moved out there wanted to buy my suzuki for travelling between there and his holiday home in portugal.
