some people shouldnt be on the motorway

coming back from our office in runcorn on the m56 we are in the fast lane overtaking when suddenly a matiz full of oaps pulls out in front of me.. puts on his hazards and does 58mph overtaking a truck doing 56 i guess.

it took him a mile on this flat bit of m'way and i was behind him waiting, whereby he put on his hazards AGAIN and pointed to his forehead???

eventually after he managed the overtake, he pulled over and voiced his disgust at me being too close for him behind him on the fast lane (neglecting the fact i had a queue behind me!)

oh and he nearly cut up the truck he overtook by pulling in very quickly after passing..

jeez me and me boss were quite peeved at his attitude and lack of driving skill.

then again it had welsh plates and seeing as i doubt they go on the 56 much they probably thought people travel on the motorways the same speed they do on the A5 on a leisurely sunday afternoon!

I shouldn't be on the motorway either - my last trip on the m62 involved getting overtaken - by a static caravan

Going back to Strapping young lads conversation........ Thats why i'm all for a retest every 5 yrs. Any motorised vehicle is a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands...... Retest everyone and 12mth ban if you fail more than once.... the roads would be empty :D

i agree

i am very cautious when im driving and constantly watching out for other road users

remember this rule... everyone else on the road is an idiot! ;)

thing is i had a merc behind me and i had to slam on and nearly got rear ended...

as you say its not he who has accidents  but causes them

Wow, what with the trouble you’re having with your -Jeans on E-Bay- and the poor driving of other motorists, I think I would call it a day and start off fresh tomorrow.

We're not supposed to teach that any more, so I say "if you assume every one else on the road is an idiot, you'll bre proved right more often that you're proved wrong".  Thing is you never notice the good drivers, do you (unless they are in a BMW, in which case you have to tell everyone else).

Oh, and not forgetting "if you see an indicator flashing, it's safe to assume there is a bulb in it, nothing more".

Definitely agree with cumpulsory retesting, but I'd demote people to "probationary" drivers for 12 months if they failed a test, until they passed it again.  Just think what restrictions insurance companies would put on those that couldn't pass the restest though :o
And if you want to insure a hoofing big 4x4, you'd have to take your test in it or the insurance company would want to know why too.

"thing is i had a merc behind me and i had to slam on and nearly got rear ended... "

So did he pull into your lane, without due care and attention to the traffic situation around him?

..and the leading question - were you travellng at the posted limit?
