So how come this aint more known and widespread as it is all positive effects and is there not any way you can get a discount on road tax??
Yes Miniman, I did change my username. Anyway, you can make a greater saving by using your own veg and diesel mixture in the tank. Infact you could get the veg oil for free from chippys and such, as it's used and apparantly used veg oil is better than unused veg oil for a diesel engine. So all you would have to pay on the veg oil is tax! For winter I think it's recommended to run 25% Veg and 75% Diesel, but in summer you can run up to even 75% Veg and 25% Diesel. A large part in this depends on the weather, as the colder it is the more gloopy the veg oil is and it will block the fuel lines in cold temperatures if there is too much veg in comparison to diesel for the weather.Quote from: "iluvmud"So how come this aint more known and widespread as it is all positive effects and is there not any way you can get a discount on road tax??Because the government wants to keep it quiet as they can't tax it like they can tax normal diesel and petrol!
Whilst this is great in concept, you are missing an awful lot of info, you cannot use WVO (waste oil) straight in your engine, it needs straining through many filers from course right down to 10 micron (or similar), this also means heating and storing the oil, then if you have any sense you will need to process it into proper bio-diesel and remove the acids and other nasties, yes, strained WVO can be used but i wouldnt!
