on my way home from work yesterday I was stopped by the police to see if I could pull a VW Golf out of the hedge it had tried to clear. naturally jumped at this and pulled him out. All his car had suffered was a puncture and a broken bumper.
Felt good. :D  :D  :D  :D

anyone else do a good deed yesterday?

Not yesterday but I've recovered a 7.5 tonner that fell off a neighbors driveway, a 4x4 building site forklift that put a wheel into the peat on the edge of the site and a loaded Transit that slid on ice and nearly went over over a cliff.
I also failed to recover a second 4x4 forklift from a site in the village, they ended up getting a huge tractor to do it in the end as my winch was pulling me towards the forklift and snatch recovery didn't work either.

Spotted a Disco II on hard shoulder of M69 the other week and pulled over to offer assistance... He looked at me like I was an alien....!

He had the AA on the way so left him to it.

Do I get the brownie points anyway?

I towed a 4.5 tonne American truck up a mountain in Iceland.  He could idle (so had brakes and steering, thank god) but couldn't actually rev the thing.  So I towed him up to the top of the mountain, gave it a kick and he coasted down to the village on the other side.

Given the Disco was fully loaded with 7 people and a roof rack stacked with gear at the time, we were probably around 7.5 tonnes all-in.  Hence I needed low box.  The guy in the truck was pretty impressed though.

I said "Flash your lights if you want me to brake".  He said "Er, I'll do the braking for both of us!"

It's not the winning it's the taking part - I bet the golf owner & police didn't feel you were 'mince'

I once towed a full dust cart out of the way, as it had broken down in front of where i wanted to get too, dunno how heavy they are but i guess it would fall into the category of " would not like that on my toe"    so i reckon i done my self a good deed ??? :)
