Consider the fact that the engine you have would have a chance of being fitted in other cars. not just your model, you may come across another vehicle that has a different part number but the same engine

Not much of a help but if so you could look under the other model too

your not wrong about audi
Aparently the company didn't exist before 1986

which is bizare given its reputation in the early 80s

you try getting parts for an 85 80 quattro

Rockign horse [PooPoo] is easier to come by than a part

I have to resort to eithe rfinding a scrap one and rebuilding or making summut new

You should find that the 1.9 5 pot motr was used  also in passats up until around 1986
And funnily enough i know where there is one in a scrappers

If you get really stuck
try

www.quattro-forum.com

or pete reeve at quattro corner

he knows audi's inside out and seems to be able to magic parts out of thin air

It was Auto Union, Deutche Industrie ( AUDI ) until VW took control.

Search for stuff under that.

Audi Ceased to be for a while then came back, but it was the 80s when it really turned up again. Having owned a C3 Audi 100, oneof the first off the line I know they were about from at least 83. All that remains of Auto Union is the 4 rings.

I'm guessing yours would be a C1, which was the first car ever produced by what we now know as Audi after it ceased to be Auto Union, I dont think I have ever seen one. I've seend C2s about by the bucketload though. There are a few specialist breakers about and they may be able to help. Also look up the number for Autotechnic in Totton, Hants for any Audi parts, hell they can even get my composite propshaft and they were works items :)

Audifans is always worth a gander too.

You might want to look to the 80 and possibly the VW Sirocco too IIRC.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
