History of Land Rover owned Land Rovers
« on: September 06, 2006, 13:01:52 »
Howdy all,

Does anyone know if it possible to trace the history of Land Rover owned vehicles?

I don't mean ex-G4 or Camel vehicles, just a bog standard Disco? Maybe someone out there has done it already and owns a LR-pre-owened vehicle.

I'm looking at one, which has a stamp in the history at about 31K miles from Land Rover Vehicle Preparation Centre, so I'm assuming LR owned it from new to about that time and would like to find out what it did.

Thanks in adv.

Orlando
I'm working on it.

When mum and dad brought there 50th ediiton defender it had previously been a landrover owned car. i think they simply just asked questions when they were at the dealership. Most dealer owned cars tend to be well looked after and serviced on a regular basis. We had very few problems with the car, other than it needing a respray as it has already started to rust and that it was a V8!

one thing you maynot find out as it wouldnt nessarly appear on a HPI test is if the car had been in any kind of accient as they tend to repare them on site kinda thing rather than using there own insurance company.

i would probably suggest if your looking @ one owned by landrover but forsale at a different garage, finding the original garage and asking them any questions you feel you need answering before possibly purchasing the car.

well i hope that helps if it make any sense.

The main problem that I can forsee with any dealer/manufacturer owned vehicle (be it Land Rover, or Lamborghini) is that every journalist, mechanic, etc... could have been in it & thrashed the living daylights out of it.
If it turns out to be ex-press fleet, who knows????
