STOLEN DISCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: September 12, 2006, 09:52:12 »
Well got up this morning & had a look outside only to find my disco td5 missing :(bigangry): , spoke to the local police & they have told me that a ''number'' of landrover's have gone missing in the midlands area over the weekend, phoned the insurance company & they have told me that I am the 3rd one over night in Birmingham to have a landrover stolen    ,

So please any one who is offered any cheap parts ect let me know as I have something to give to these thieving scumbag's.

To say I am angry is an understatment,

Please make sure all your landy's are kept secure,

Oh btw the disco is a grey mettallic td5,
reg number is M5 JFR,
2001 model but has the facelift front (2004),

Your's well p'd off

I've passed this onto a number of other sources (some in the trade) as I thought you wouldn't mind.

Will keep an eye out on my travels, too.

What a (EDIT).  I didn't think TD5 Discos were very easy to nick.  I think I'll order another Disklok, every little must help.  Good luck sorting it all out.

mates girlfriend had her 90 300 Tdi stolen a few months back in a similar manner, found the headlight surround along with the alarm unit.. same as yours there were 5 reported thefts within 3 miles that night.Police said - don't hold your breath for geting it back..
Update on this story is she brought another 90, and had another alarm fitted by a specialist in Birmingham - 2 weeks later they found the headlamp surround off - and key marks down the side, obviously they had come back tried the same trick again - and when that didnt work took it out on the paintwork.
Good luck with yours.

Its probably leaving the country as we speak, the policeman who came round when my garage was smashed open told me foreign gangs target newish expensive vehicles and ship them out. Theres been a spate of similar robberies round here, BM's, lexus, mercs gone missing, they steal the keys from inside the house and just drive off.

They were probably gutted to see how old it was!

Good luck with your claim

Looks like the only option is to fit a Tracker.

I've always thought they work out expensive but I've just seen they do a lifetime subscription (i.e. your ownership) for £325. The GPS version works out at £774 all in with this. Doesn't stop it getting nicked but suspect you have a greater chance of getting your precious back.

Will get one fitted on the next car , (if the disco turns will be sold immedeatly),  Yes I know bolting the door after the horse has bolted & all that but hey we live & learn  ,

The site I found was http://www.uktracking.com/uktracking/ but if you put tracker into google a few come up.

You will probably also find a local dealer in your yellow pages under car security etc.

I wouldn't bother to put a tracker, especially GPS based one on a 90. Very easy to find and even easier to disable than alarm.

Fit a MeckLock from mudstuff, half the cost and the only way they could nick it is a flatbed or completely re-run your clutch or brake hydraulics.

http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Meck_Lock.html

Nothing to do with Kev's company, just very satisfied customer

Cheers

Steve

Or cut the clutch pipe after the device (near the slave cylinder) and drive the car clutchless (i.e. clutchless start and gear change - which isn't hard)

Is a nice bit of kit though.
