Standard ride height ?
« on: September 19, 2006, 11:42:33 »
Before I go and start fiddling with the 110's rear springs (gonna take the helper springs out and see if it makes the ride a little softer), I thought about checking the actual ride height - but can't find a figure anywhere of what it should be.

I've also contemplated lifting the truck slightly, and would do the lift at the same time, so........

I need to know what a 'standard', unladen 110 HD hardtop's ride height is - I've measured from the ground to the bottom of the wheel arch spat (vertically 'through' the wheel centre if that makes sense).

Rear   37.25"
Front   34.75"

Tyres are BFG MT's, 265/75/16's

Can't help with what they should be, but if it's of any use the following are heights measured on Heather.

Front Left 35.25"
Front Right 34.75"

Rear Left 35"
Rear Right 34.75"

That's with standard rear springs and heavy duty fronts (about 4-5 years old), the load bay is lined and has some junk in it, the front has ARB winch bumper and winch.

Tyres also 265/75x16 BFG MT

I did only measure the o/s as the truck is parked tight against the garage wall, so I guess it may differ slightly from side to side too. I know that factory HD front springs have slightly different ratings (blue/red on o/s and yellow/white on n/s), but mine are so caked in crud that I can't see any paint marks on them......

Think I'll go with taking out the rear helper springs for now, and see what changes that makes, and seeing as I might be messing about with the winch bumper, I'll hold fire on changing the front springs until I know what's happening.
