My first proper job

Just finished my third week working at Land Rover in Bradford. I am doing an apprenticeship as a 'service technician' and i will be going to Land Rovers own college in Liverpool. I have now driven a huge variety of landies it has been ace. I have also helped change a gearbox on a disco 3 and an engine on a disco 3.

..and that place in Liverpool is known as the Ford factory Halewood which shall also be manufacturing Freelanders.

Personally knowing someone who's doing this course and has nearly finished, I don't think it's all that great and there may be trouble lying ahead if Land Rover is indeed sold by Ford while you are still completing your course.  But whatever floats your boat I suppose.

I am well jealous and would love a job with Land Rover. Well to be honest any job would be nice at the moment!

Eh..... no ya dont

workin on landrovers is good cos its the same faults day in day out with the ocasionally funnys but it kills the enthusiasm to work on yer own when you get home  :evil:

hey jim!how longs the apprenticeship?havin just completed mine after 4 long hard years i know the fun that lies ahead for you!the down side is that for the next 3years you will basically be doing oil and filters wkith the occasional change ie,brake reline or clutch/g/box.

this is spoken from expieriance,service technician basically means we take off old broken parts and fit new!not really repair thats why they don't call us mechanics!but at the end of the day hat off to ya,at least your not sittin on your arse getting paid for watchin trisha from my hard earned wages,unlike so many scroungers in todays world!

I am hopeing to start an apprenticeship very soon in mechanics aswell i cant wait...i should be getting some things through the post about availabillity tomorrow. And also to be getting my first off roader in a week or 2....Thanks to my dad who is paying for it YAY :D  :D  :D

Yep thats right BTM. Took a gearbox out of a disco 3 on my first day and replaced an engine in my first week so maybe not just services like you said jaws.
