basicaly 2 wheel drive its like in lorrys you get an 8x4 which means 4 axle's 2 of which are driven 4x2 means 4 wheels 2 driven. :D

ok so it does not mean that normaly it is in 2 wheel drive and you can select 4 wheel drive? and does it mean anything diff if they put 4x2 or 2x4? Is one front wheel drive and other rear wheel drive?

 it is entirely down to which way the advertiser wants to portray it i mean a series land rover is 4x2 normally but 4x4 when you want it! but you could say a fiesta is a 4x2 which it is... i could go on for ages but i am getting confused my self HELP!!!! :shock:

in a nutsheel higher number is axles - lower number is drive
ie
4x2
4x4
6x2
6x4
6x6
