Standard height?
« on: September 24, 2006, 08:46:49 »
This has probably been done before but i can't find it so here we go. Could some kind soul take a couple of measurements for me please.  I need the measurement between the centre of the axle straight up to the bottom edge of the wheelarch (the first bit of bodywork that you come to) if that makes sense. This should give the height of the suspension regardless of tyres. The vehicle needs to have no lift and the springs need to be in good health. I need front and rear.
I am trying to find out what a standard vehicle should be so i know what i have got and therefore what needs doing for huge boots 8)

Thanks in advance

If you can locate an original sales brochure/spec sheet on the machine, it should give you what you want

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

I've got a feeling that 16" or thereabouts is the standard height from centre of wheel to top of wheel arch but could be wrong!

Is there any chance someone with  standard suspension would spend 30 seconds with a tape measure?  [-o<

The problem is with that is that 'most' people with standard suspension will have the original suspension, which will have sagged with age

I'd agree with hobbit, have a read of the sales blurb, and if that doesn't give it away, head for a pub meet and compare yours to others

Does the drivers sun visor have the overall heights on? Work backwards from that?!

......and it is 46cm both front and rear. True this is on a 12 year old motor but the suspension is pretty good - it passed its MOT last week anyway!

The eyebrow height from the floor is 790mm front and rear on a RRC, take away the radius of your wheels and you are there.
