Got any pictures?

Over here they have pretty good ones that clamp onto the tow bar, pretty smart (as long as you have a tow bar).  They are a bit expensive though.

I wish this project would just hurry up and finish!

But I don't think it will if I keep making simple mistakes

I looked into this a couple of months ago and settled on a Thule 9103, very easy to get on and off and you can still use the rear door/hatch with it attached.

Hi.

The Thule thingy looks great - i also think i would be able to cram 2 x grown up bikes & 2 x kids bikes onto it - is that a possibility?

if so, would be much easier than our current options of carrying bikes

Pugsley (peugeot 407) now sitting dead in a garage workshop, being replaced by Yeti the kia carens!
Bagheera - geoff's new(ish) car - a black jaguar!
love is....a husband who is prepared to put petrol in his wife's V8 without flinching - now has admitted to flinching occasionally

my only concern with rear-mounted is that you have a restricted view of the rear and as mine is a saloon and not hatch or similar, it would be a bit of a pain to mount i would imagine.
