So what soft drink is worth having in a pub? I usually end up on lemonade but how much of that can you drink without getting bloated?

.

Cokes always a safe bet, if not the Blackcurrent Cordial (If it's Britvic) isn't half bad.

I can have too much coke very quickly and it's only the full on coke that's worth drinking at all. I used to like Pepsi Max but Aspartemine (?) leaves a disgusting taste in my mouth the next day and has all sorts of alleged health issues.

Am I right that the profit margin on any tap soft drink is massive - far better than beer etc?

On balance I reckon you boozers get the better deal! There's not a lot wrong with good old Gin & Tonic - except the alcohol I guess.

Yep, it costs the pubs about 8p on average for a pint of Post mix Coke, I just hate the syrup'y aftertaste.

I am very choosey about what I drink as I dont like fizzy beer.

I only drink hand pulled beer, good bottled bitter or the very occasional can of 'draught flow' bitter. Other than that I prefer a cup of coffee.

I also dont drink at home except maybe a glass or 2 of a good quality spirit or port at family bashes.

im the opposite - prefer to drink at home, then again at an average of £2.50 for a pint in a pub, and i can buy 8 cans of guinness for £6 then it makes perfect sense, dont usualy drink in the week due to driving for a living.
Also most people i know drink carling - if i have 1 can of that i spend more time 'getting rid of it' ;) than i do drinking it - funnily enough tho, if i drink the stronger lagers 6 - 9% i dont pee as much, and it dosnt seem to affect me as much either.
Just dont ask SWMBO about when i drank a bottle and half of whiskey..
Also when i was younger I was a borderline alcoholic, used to do the drinking games to excess.. especialy with Vodka - start off with a single then work up to a 1/2 pint glass - and i NEVER lost!
For one of my birthdays i got brouht 3 bottles of vodka -and woke up having drunk them all, but could only find 2 empty bottles... soon decided that i was on a 1 way trip to an early grave and stopped drinking Vodka, stil cant touch the stuff now

I'm partial to a nice bottled beer from time to time.  I have found a fantastic one from a Belgian monetrary.  Chimay.  Try one!

I discovered Chimay on the 16th of June 1990   I have tried trapist beer on many occasions and the variety of flavours are immense    Including one that tastes like Vimto       I like going to belgium just for the beer   (and the waffles)

The best continental beer I have ever tasted was a place called the Wood House just outside of Erfurt in the old east germany. They brewed their Pilsner on the premises and they only sold 'light' and 'dark'. NOTHING else was sold not even lemonade. It was in the middle of a forest and it was a mile or so walk just to get to it

Easy enough date to remember ..... me and some m8s went to the celebrations for the 175th anniversary of the battle Waterloo and we arrived 2 days before hand. I think we hit the bars of Brussels about 6.45

Something like 10,000% profit margin on the actual drink.  Costs about tuppence for the actual drink - a bit more with the ice and cleaning the glass.   OK, they've got to pay off a £20k postmix machine, but when you're pocketing £2.50 a glass of coke, that doesn't take long.

On the subject of soft drinks in pubs, going to MC meets or Suzuki meets at the pub, I tend to buy orange juice and lemonade. I don't really like Coke/Pepsi, etc. But only when you order a pint of orange juice and lemonade do you realise how cheap beer is ...... £2.50     Mine lasts me all night!!!
