My dad made me a trailer for my bike when I was younger to carry the 280 newspapers back from where I picked them up and I got stopped by thepolice for doing 30 in a 30 down hill of course. They said it was dangerous to do 30mph on a bike especially with a trailer on the back that was held on by a bolt down the seat stem and held in by rope. Seemed fine to me at the time

i've been stopped for speeding once too, on a crappy old raleigh mustang
admittedly i did overtake a police car, over a speed ramp, in the air.
luckily as i was only 14 they couldnt give me points, just took me to see my parents and gave me a stern warning
as soon as they'd left my parents wet themselves laughing and challenged me to do it again
my parents are nuts!

60+MPH down East Chevin into Otley :(scared):
The Yorkies might know that one, it's the one that passes Chevin Forest Park (as shown on map)
Measured with a 'trip-computer' on the road-bike that was calibrated to within a foot per mile (both for distance & speed)

Oh, & similar speeds on HolmeMoss (on both West Yorkshire & Derbyshire sides)

Maybe you need a number plate to set the camera off.
Something stuck to the back of your jacket with some witty letters on should do the trick

or take a number plate off a car and cycle next tothe car and get the car to set it off!!! cheeting I know as you could just start off in the camera trap area asthe car goes past!

also I was wondering. As everyone is out to blow the cameras up n spray paint on them etc. why not just paint the lines in the road black. then the bods in an office cant count the lines to work out how fast you were. would it work?

Tomoz night? No time like the present. Pubs are empty, midnight will be change of shift for the police so they wont be about! Extra day of being on your bike to break speed limit!!!!

I would come and help but sadly I cant be bothered to be honest!!!! I have better things to do like getting some shut eye!

Why???

You wouldn't drive a car without brakes?

If by any chance a car ran into you, or you hit one, there would certainly be a reduction (or dismissal) of any claims by you for injuries, as it would be deemed 'Contributary Negligence'.
The other possibilty would be a prosecution for a unsafe/unroadworthy bicycle.

I've seen the results of a few BMXers/MTBers who've not had good brakes, someone has to explain to the parents why their child is severly injured/dead
Sorry to be a 'party-pooper', but it could be your life on the line

I used to ride home through Leeds city centre at 18:00 everynight & made sure my brakes were spot-on (too unsafe to do otherwise)

Oh yes I know that one well, I remember trying to get UP it in a 2.5NA Diesel 90 and watching snails overtake me....

A friend of mine once had a Porch pull over to let him past on a push bike as the driver couldn't corner as fast as he could down the narrow lanes of Wales

I couldn't go up as fast, but on a good day, I could just about slip-stream a scooter up Leeds Road (the main one from Otley to Bramhope)
So that was a good pace :D

I know, I've had cars try to lose (or overtake) me on hills like; HolmeMoss, Sutton Bank, Norwood Edge
