Hi Pete
You could remove it, get someone else to crank the engine (cold) while you point it into a jam/coffee jar.
If no fuel you could test with an injector node to  test supply. Got a set of these made by draper for around £15-£20 to fit all types of injector.
It only works as a choke so I would think it would just take longer to start in this weather, maybe prevent it from starting when it really cold?
Hope this helps

hi.
will it start at all or dose it start and cut out after a few secs.if it starts and then cuts out after a few secs then it sounds like its firing up on the cold start injector, this could be that you have lost the in put signal from the neg side of the coil to the ecu.if it takes loads of turning over then fires, this could be the cold start injector or loss of signal.all so check that the fuel pump is running when the engine is cranked, if it isn't take the air in take pipe off the mass air flow metre with the ign on move the air flap  10-15mm and listen to the pump this is in the fuel tank,if its not running then check the fuel pump fuse/fuel pump relay this is under the pass side front seat i hope this is of some help best of luck. if i can help any more just pm me.

Hi all it was the resister for the fuel pump it was telling the pump to work but only for about 2 sec's.Took the resister out and shorted it with 2 bits of wire and a fuse.Works great.Cheers for all the advice everything was worth checking.Pete
