What sealant?
« on: October 11, 2006, 13:26:20 »
After finally taking the head off my 2.5td I was faced with quite a mess! One of the core plugs had rusted away and was causing water to leak into the head causing large amounts of rust to the head itself, effectively killing the head (although the 11 cracks in it and the blocked waterway didn't help either I don't think)

I now have a new head and I've got a replacement core plug on order, question is what do I use as a sealant on the core plug before inserting it?

I have always used a product called wellseal, its comes in a tube(different sizes) and the easiest way of describing it would be a very thick varnish type of gooooo, works a treat though and never goes off,  But it also works very well to stop ya spanners rattling in ya tool box when it leaks,Trust me on that one    Should be able to get it from a decent parts supplier
TD5 with a few Tweaks ;o)
a bit more fuel friendly than the V8
