arent they 2 different vehicles??
XC90 is the new proper 4x4 7 seater
the cross country is a 'wannabe' 4x4 in the same vein as the quattro - ie 4x4 but not off road biased.

Bunnie spotted an absolutely filthy Q7 today :)

But the XC90 is a proper 4x4 and the Cross Country is similar to the Audi Allroad, just a saloon that can deal with a little bit more punishment. As Bazza said :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

IMHO - Both completely talentless vehicles - the cross country is a jacked up estate with pseudo 4x4 ability and the XC90 is completely characterless and one of the least able, capable, 4x4's in its class, just cheap - read value for money -  compared to the oppo.
The engines in particular are pretty gutless.
Much rather have a 2nd hand Disco, RR or even a Toyota LC Amazon

So the general opinion isn't that good then !
Time to come clean - as some may know I have been trying to sell my TD5 Disco for a wee while
One of my customers has recently bought a V70XC for his wife (he runs a V8 rangie) trouble is she hates it and wants a Discovery - I'm sure you can see where this is heading now !
He has offered me what I think is a cracking deal - his volvo and £2500 cash for my Disco - all just to keep the missus happy !
I am fully aware that this is no off roader but to be honest the TD5 was never going off road anyway - I've got an old 110 and a 90 for that sort of thing
The Disco earned it's keep doing some towing, carting us on holibags and doing the shopping - chores I am sure the volvo would be just as good at.
My dilemna is it is a very long time since there has been a vehicle without a green oval parked in my drive - so, do I go for it or beat myself with a large stick for thinking such thoughts - opinions please !

Not bad cars, just a little soul less.. if its going to be your 'tarmac' car then they are suitable for that, legendary volvo build quality - and probably the same on juice as the td5.
type it into your search bar and read the reviews.

A friend of mine has one & uses it as a 'Works' Van' for his steel-fabrication/agricultural engineering business.
He was quite happy with it, apart from the economy.
I know he did look at Discovery Commercials, but he's still not a fan of Discos (he's the same age as me - 41- & has had his 1956 Series 1 86" since he was 15!)

well, I say has one, but I haven't seen him for about 4months

A mate of mine had a new X5 ... traded it for the Volvo when that came out.  Had it for three weeks and got rid of it for another X5.  He does a lot of miles and hated the volvo enough to suffer the loss.

He's got no taste though .... sold the X5 for a Cayenne.

Didnt top gear do Volvo CrossCountry VS All road once. Seem to remeber the audi won, and would have wont hands down if it wern't for James May burying it in a snowdrift.

I would go see a doctor I suspect you've taken a blow to the head and may have been temporarily insane.
I hope this helps
