has anybody learn't a skill that you have not used for years then suddenly you realize that you can still do them. my next door neighbor collects deactivated guns and bought a  S.L.R and handed it to me .i haven't field stripped one for over twenty years but found i still remembered how to do it.

:D  :D That brings back many memories...having to strip and assemble an SLR in total darkness in the middle of Winter out on exercises...other such delights were stripping an SMG or an LMG...great

Visited the War and Peace show in Kent last year... wandering around I came upone a whole table full of SLR's... Before I knew it I had picked it up, carried out an unload (yes I know mag on... **Shakes head**)... re cocked it and was attempting to remove the gas plug... which apparently you can't do to decommisioned SLR's... was terribly disappointed!

Still think I can do it with my eyes shut.

Was a thing of beauty to fire...   **Reminisces**

Ex Signals here before anyone else asks... Who else was what else...?

Yeah.... that's true...

We had a newbie female Woopert posted in while on exercise (on top of a German ridge ofr six weeks providing umpire comms.....again!).

We told her we had dug a seperate thunder box hole ofr her... with her own hessian screening...still... she went DAYS without using it...

Finally the day came when she could wait no longer... The word went out and just as she was dropping her kecks and sitting...  We shouted down the mic to the speaker we'd screwed to the inside of the thunder box... "Not yet Ma'am! Ahm still diggin'!!!!!"

Talk about startled rabbit!

As the OC Squadron was watching and piddling himself... she couldn't really take offence!
