What was your first 4wd Drive?
« on: October 15, 2006, 23:17:33 »
To start the ball rolling. Mine was a series 2 SWB MOD Land Rover for which at the tender age of 15 I held an "airfields driving permit" as an ATC cadet in order to tow glider winch cables across the airfield at RAF Swanton Morley in Norfolk. Many weekends were happily spent towing cables, in order to get a couple of flights further towards the elusive "AB".

Suzuki SJ413. Dare I say it, it was actually far more fun than a Landrover, and I'd have another one any day.

A Series 3 (109") that my dad used for work to collect Sheep from the fields (he was a butcher) to take to the Abbotoir.
He used to come home in it every so often, I got a drive (sat on a cushion) in a local sports club parking ground when I was about 8 :D

(it was sooo long ago, as I'm 41 next week  )

My first was a Fordson Major 'Roadless'.
I had the use of two S3 as site vehicles when I used to work at a goldmine.
I bought a HJ60 Land Cruiser after I left and had 240,000 miles out of it before I got rid.

Nice little car.
I had a 88" Series 3 after that.
Soon swapped it for a '91 Disco V8 though
