First I drove on a reular basis was my bosses when I was 20 - '86, would let me drop him of in the eves after a few pints in the pub after work then I had to pick him up in the mornings , but only lived two streets away so no hardship.
Then early nineties had a Sapphire Cossie co car for about 6 months - we chipped and tune it - awesome in its time.

Then nothing until 98  when I purchased a 130 ex-leccie board, which I drove London to Cape Town, well the truck never made it to Cape Town in my ownership as I sold it to a friend in Zambia.
Then purchased a superbly equipped and built - chassis up rebuild - Toyota Land Cruiser 80 series, all fancy elecs had been removed, even had wind up windows, OME lift kit, twin ARBs, etc, etc - almost unstoppable.
Since returning to the uk in 02 purchased LR Disco Comm - owned approx six months, followed by another uk spec TLC 80.

Now looking for my next LR 110, or Disco most likely.

First drives were Series 2 Landy Ambulance, that would start with a padlock key, then V8 110.

First owned was a Renault Scenic Rx4 that got stuck on a mud track.

Now it's a Td5 disco
Sometimes you need to get away from the crowd, the only way to do that, is to get a little mud on the tyres.

The first 4X4 i ever drove is the farm vehicle we call BIG RUSTY (it's very rusty).  It's a C reg Range Rover Classic with a 300tdi and R380 gearbox from a 90.

The first 4X4 i ever owned (other than RC models) is my One Ten.

Hmmmm...first 4x4 I owned was a Ford Explorer (cue those that know running for cover....), then an 88" 2.25, a 109" 2.25, a Stage One V8, a D1, a Freelander 1.8, a Freelander 2.5V6, L322 4.4, Pinin 2.0 ......

and now Bagheera (L322 4.2)  ;-)

Of course early memories of Land Rovers go right back - being brought up in the valleys and Dad working for the NCB ;-)

Oh and I have owned other 4x4's ... but they were salvage so I ain't counting them. All the above were/are run as daily drivers.

1st drive was an 86" series 1, took it in turns driving 14 hours to from Sheffield to Cornwall with 6 lads and a trailer for a lads holiday. I was sat on the back bench seat on the way home with severe sunburn in excruciating pain, never shown my skin to the sun since!

Didn't put me off rovers though as i bought a series 3 shortly after that holiday and stuck a V8 in. Have had a 90, 2 110's and a 130 crewcab for work.

I run a L200 crew cab and a discovery V8 auto now but the best off roading i have ever done was driving forwarders in Sweden, doubt they count though as they were 6x6 and 8x8's.

First drive was a G plate RRC Vogue.  Was the daily drive of the owner of a car hire business I worked for over university summer holidays.  Had it after it went out on a rent for a week and I picked it up late on a Friday night.  Didn't have to be back 'til the Monday so drive 800 miles over the weekend in it  8)

First, and only one, owned is our TD5.
