transfer box flange play?

Should there be any sideways play on a front flange on an lt230 transfer box or none at all.

mines got a hell of a load of play
there shouldnt be, but it aint effected mine in past7k miles  :lol:
or is it the drone of the tyres dampening the bearing whine  :lol:
seriously tho, it aint give me any problems

All LT230's will have a small amout of play in the front output flange.
I got a recon from Ashcrofts and that had as much play in it as the one I took out so I assume this is normal.  :wink:

I dont understand why there should be any play there, is'nt there a bearing behind the flange?

yes but its set back away about and inch or 2, so allows a bit of slop, as u call it  :lol:

the bearing is a roller ball type not a taper bearing
so 4mm of plat is perfectly normal
