who's the Greenest ?
« on: November 01, 2006, 18:26:30 »
anyone read Autocar this week ?

they have done some research into the Greenest car range taking into account ( and i quote )" it takes into acount not only the CO2 emmissions, but also the energy used in it's design and production both in car assembly plants and by suppliers of parts and sub-assemblies. The energy consumed in transporting cars to dealers and in maintaining, servicing and scrapping them is also taken into account."

it also takes into account how long the vehicle's expected to last so on and so forth, and guess what came out on top ?

yep  a 4x4 !!!

actually a Jeep Wrangler scored £0.38 per mile ( for it's total like span )

Freelander was No 19 on the list @ £1.05  Range Rover sport No 48 @ £1.51 and the Toyota Prius ????  No 74 @ £ 2.03 !!!

Yeah but they'll say it doesn't count as it's been produced by a pro-car magazine rather than a green mag!

But surely saying that 4xs are better than tiny cars would be a good thing? It doesnt matter if it is for a pro car magazine. A pro 4x4 magazineit would be pointless but a pro car one would be ok as it isnt aiming at 1 type of car, just cars in general.

I agree with you but try telling the antis that or the goverment, they want 4x4s to be seen as the devil incarnate and will produce any lie to prove it.

So I say.............................................
