Hi all
My front axle has covered some 386000 miles and is getting a little sad. I have been offered a RRC axle complete with calipers.
I know that the ratio is identical and I'm gona retain my own radius arms, panhard rod, drag link and track rod. I'm also gona remove the resonance damper (large metal dohnut) that was fitted to RR's and Disco's.
What I need to know is about the Brakes. RRC's had dual circuit brakes and my Def has single. So...
1. Can I simply fit a screwed plug into the unused brake pipe port on the calipers? as both brake pipe ports enter the caliper at approximatly the same point?.
2. Has anyone out there done this conversion?
Many thanks
Tony
Ratio the same - 3.54:1
Internals are different - different CV's etc (not a major problem)
Radius Arms - depending on the width, you may need the ones off the RR - there are two widths of arms fitted to Land Rovers.
Can use your exisitng panhard rod and drag link.
Brakes - easiest option is to fit the calipers off your 110.
110 calipers are also larger than RR ones, so you may loose braking performance - which is never a good thing in a 110.
They will bolt straight onto the RR axle. I personally wouldn't mess with trying to make the RR calipers fit a single line circuit.
