Vitara Clutch Question
«
on:
November 11, 2006, 10:29:47 »
Can anyone tell me how many splines are on the clutch driveshaft, please?
Mine is; 1995 SWB 1.6 8v Petrol, Fuel Injected. I've discovered it's a 200mm clutch plate but need to know the number of splines.
Cheers :)

According to the LUK clutch catalogue, all the 88 onwards Vits have a 20 spline plate. The diameter changed from 200mm to 215mm in 1990 it seems.
But manufacturers catalogues are not always reliable!

So mines a 215mm plate not 200mm? How do I find out for certain? :)

Hang on! Just done a bit of Googling and have found info that suggests the 16v engines used the 215 plate! But LUK suggest both are 20 spline.

(Excel spreadsheet)
Go to line 7323.
Told you I couldn't rely on catalogues!

Everything I can find suggests the 8v used the 200mm 20 spline plate.

Thanks again Steve :)
I'll take your word for it as I don't have Excel  :)
So it's a 200mm plate with 20 splines - cheers :) :) :)
