Running repairs
« on: November 12, 2006, 20:31:44 »
Decided to fit the new starter motor on saturday and while lying underneath the car thought i may as well fit the new downpipes and "Y" piece of the exhaust to the V8, what an utter pig of a job that was.
Getting the old exhaust off was a pain as all the nuts were seized on the manifold end and an angle grinder sorted the rest out
fitting the new bits turned out to be interesting as with all pattern parts(these were britpart) nothing seemed to fit quite right.
The flanges on the down pipes are slightly thicker than the old ones and the triangular plates are nearly twice as thick   this was not good as holding the rhs one in postion the manifold studs were not long enough   more modding with the cutting disc sorted that out as it got cut to half size :D  then the pipe lines up with the cross member so i cant get the Y on
anyway after lots of expletives modding etc its on...and i had to sort the rear end out as it was now in the wrong position for some reason :?
but..the exhaust note has changed now and sounds cool so i may leave my tiny silencer on and keep the new one for the time being :D

I've found that with pattern systems too, the rear box that quick..... well a certain major chain fitted to RRR looks pretty c**ppy at the back but I'm loathed to tidy it up whilst it's guaranteed.

I have found the SS systems fit nicely though.
