Someone has been ar**ing around with tyour car. The hex socket bolt next to the throttle is the base idle adjust screw. You need to disconnect and plug the right angle runbber pipe that goes to the idle speed stepper motor then adjst that scres so that the engine does I think 450rpm but don'e quote me on that, it's very slow though. The idle speed stepper then keep sthe engine at 850rpm.
The screw on the MAF sensor is the mixture and should effect it, though I don't mess with it I let my MOT man do that. If it's having no effect it might be toast.
